This is the Biserčić family’s story
The Biserčić family from Kragujevac is made up of single mother Katarina and her two children, Mihajlo and Mila.
Because of health problems, Katarina is currently unable to work. Their only monthly income is social assistance of 9,600 RSD, which these days is not enough for a family of three to get by.
Mihajlo and Mila’s father pays child support only occasionally, because he doesn’t have steady work either.
The house they live in is full of damp. Mold keeps forming on the walls, and it is worst in the room where the children sleep. Mihajlo suffers from laryngitis and allergic asthma, and the conditions in the house make his already fragile health even worse.
